The Price of the Call

To follow Christ is to take up the cross. There is a price attached to the call.

Many are willing to follow Jesus when the way is smooth, but the Lord plainly declares that to follow Him we must deny ourselves, take up our cross daily, and follow after Him.

The cross represents the death of self. It is the place where our will yields to His, where our plans bow to His purposes, and where our lives are exchanged for His life.

The world looks at the cross and sees foolishness, but we who are saved know that it is the power of God. What shall it profit a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul?

There is no crown without the cross, and there is no glory without the suffering. Embrace the call, count the cost, and press toward the mark of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
